Returning after a successful track & field season this summer, Owen Naberhaus has put his name on the list of top cross-country runners for the season.  At the Montana Association Junior Olympic track & field championships, Owen earn the gold medal in the 11-12 boys 3000 meter run in a season best time of 12:08.78.  He is now preparing to take that momentum into the cross-country season running a 21:30.27 5K at the Bozeman Sweet Pea Festival.

Owen is in his third year with the track club and is currently in the 7th grade at Chief Joseph Middle School.   While not putting in his weekly mileage, he enjoys playing the violin, piano and ukulele; as well as, hiking, skiing and acrobatics on his trampoline.   His favorite snack is clementine oranges and favorite pet is the family dog, Baxter.
Owen’s favorite athlete is Kenya long distance runner Dennis Kipruto Kimetto who is currently the world record holder in the men’s marathon, with a time of 2 hours 2 minutes 57 seconds.  His goal for the cross-country season is to qualify for the national Junior Olympic cross-country championships in Reno, NV.  Last year Owen earned the Rotary Merit Award, Soaring Eagle Award and was on the Chief Joseph Middle School Honor Roll.
Nice job Owen!
