Athlete of the Week – Natalie Nicholas

If cross training is the key to being a successful distance runner, Natalie Nicholas is the princess of paying her dues!  A dedicated runner with a great work ethic and huge smile, she has made a serious goal to get her base mileage in as the cross-country season draws near.  Competing in the recent Sweet Pea 5K run she ran a solid 21:52 and recently was one of the first to earned her RockStar t-shirt for getting her mileage in this month.

This is Natalie’s second year with the club and is in the 7th grade at Sacajawea Middle School.   Her favorite hobbies include playing her violin and enjoys Nordic skiing during the winter months.  She is also noted for getting excited about cross-country while painting her toenails when talking with her girlfriends about the upcoming season!  Her favorite snack is marshmallows and enjoys making smores when she gets a chance, and her favorite pet is her chicken, Chick-chick-chicky!

Natalie’s favorite athlete is American cross-country skier, Jessica “Jessie” Diggins.  Jessica and teammate Kikkan Randall won the United States’ first ever cross-country skiing gold medal at the Winter Olympics in women’s team sprint at Pyeongchang in 2018.  Natalie’s goal for the cross-country season is to be of the leaders on the girls team and qualify for the Junior Olympic cross-country championships in Reno, NV.

Keep up the great work Natalie!
